Architectural glass with pyrolysis film can be treated as uncoated glass due to the durability of the film and cleaned with the cleaning equipment mentioned above. No abrasive cleaning device shall be used for coated glass. The films deposited by the Magnetron Sputtering Vacuum Deposition (MSVD) process are not as strong as the pyrolysis films, and the new low radiation films are the most sensitive.

Surface residues on the visible MSVD reflective film can be removed with clean, lint-free cloths and commercial solvents such as paint thinners, mineral spirits or isopropyl alcohols. Do not use household tableware detergents, care must be taken to ensure that solvents and residues have no effect on the membrane. Clean and test with small samples to determine if residues and solvents have damaged the membrane. During machine washing, the coated glass must never be stopped under the cleaned brush, because this will damage the film. Because the hardness of the brushes of each cleaning machine may be different, check the film layer after cleaning to determine whether the brushes of the cleaning machine cause damage to the film. When cleaning coated glass with MSVD low radiation film, it is best not to use circulating water because these films are very sensitive to pH value. If circulating water is used, monitor the pH value. Finally, demineralised water or deionized water shall be used for spraying coated glass to ensure no residue during drying. Since processes using demineralised or de-ionized water may increase the corrosivity of the water, sample testing should be performed in the water. Once it has been determined that no harmful reactions have occurred, a pilot production is required prior to large-scale production to determine if this water is working properly in the system. The temperature and pH of the cleaning fluid are related. At lower pH (acidic), elevated temperatures accelerate the acid destruction reaction. The washing liquid shall be tested at the same production temperature. If the glass without film is cleaned, the water temperature shall not be higher than 40. F (60 ℃). In the second half of 1983, PPG installed the pre-cleaning system and detection system on the vacuum coating production line. The vacuum coating production line requires thorough cleaning of the glass surface; Cleaning of glass surface is very important to ensure coating quality. The pre-cleaning system continues to operate, resulting in increased productivity due to ease of maintenance, compactness and economy, and reduced product defects associated with cleaning. The principle of the pre-cleaning system can be used to design the pre-cleaning system of each glass manufacturer. The glass cleaning equipment manufacturer shall be consulted to develop a retrofit system to meet specific requirements. Reactive contamination refers to substances with stronger adhesion than surface residues, which can be physically or chemically bonded or reacted with the glass surface. For this reason, a special solution that dissolves or destroys the bond force should be used for removal. Hard brine, like other inorganic compounds, is a common reaction contaminant. If the glass is washed with water containing inorganic compounds, the glass surface must be thoroughly rinsed with demineralised water carefully before drying or further processing (e.g. coating or toughening). This will prevent build-up of hard saline water from causing visible defects in the glass or workmanship. If hard water is allowed to dry on the glass surface, acid solution shall be used for off-line cleaning to remove salt on the glass surface. However, this practice may not be safe in production, adverse to the environment or economically viable.
